WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's soccer team fell 3-1 in its regular season finale to Delaware on Saturday night at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. Sophomore
William Eskay scored the Tribe's lone goal in the fourth minute. With the decision, the Tribe concludes the year with a 7-8-2 record, while Delaware improves to 9-6-2.
W&M wasted little time to get on the board, scoring in the fourth minute. Senior
Jackson Eskay came streaking down the right side of the field and fired a shot that was saved by a diving Todd Morton. The rebound bounced right back in front of the goal mouth and was collected by
William Eskay, who buried his shot into the back of the net. His seventh goal of the season, gave W&M an early 1-0 lead.
The Blue Hens tied the score in the 38th minute of the match. Joe Dipre created a turnover just outside of the Tribe box, and was one-on-one with the goalie. Dipre fired his shot into the right corner of the goal, knotting the score at 1-1.
Despite the tie score, W&M held a commanding 9-3 advantage in shots, which included a 7-3 lead in shots on goal. Todd Morton was strong in goal for the Blue Hens and made six first half saves, after allowing an early goal.
Delaware was awarded a penalty kick in the 50th minute after a Blue Hen player was taken down in the box. Carlos Perales lined up his PK, but redshirt junior goalkeeper
Mac Phillips made a kick save to preserve the tie.
Moments later, the Tribe almost broke the tie with a good combination up the field.

Ryder Bell. Bell took a shot and fired the ball passed the goalkeeper, but it just rolled by the far post.
Perales just missed again on a golden opportunity in the 56th minute. This time his shot came from the top left of the 18, and again Phillips made a diving save to preserve the tie.
The Blue Hens took their first lead with a goal in the 77th minute of the match. Ryan Talbot sent a feed at the top of the box that found Dani Laguna. Laguna lofted his shot into the top middle of the goal, giving Delaware a 2-1 advantage.
W&M continued to fight for the equalizer and just missed the tying goal on a corner kick in the 82nd minute. Senior
Chris Dunn sent the ball into the box and the ball bounced around to the front of the goal.
Jackson Eskay was able to get a foot to it, and put his chance on target, but Morton saved it.
Delaware added an insurance goal just a minute later in the 83rd minute. Marc Siverio sent a through ball down the left sideline that found Laguna, who was racing down the left side. Laguna took a shot from an extremely tough angle into the lower right of the goal.
The Tribe held a 15-11 advantage in shots on goal, which included 10-7 advantage in shots on-goal.
Jackson Eskay fired four shots, while
William Eskay and Bell had three shots.
Phillips recorded four saves in goal on the evening for Green and Gold. His counterpart Morton finished with nine stops for the Blue Hens.
