The William & Mary volleyball team came up just shy at league-leading James Madison Thursday night, 3-0. With the loss, the Tribe moves to 8-14 (2-7 CAA) on the year, while the Dukes improved to 19-3 and 9-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association.
The Tribe once again got good production from the top end of its line-up. Senior
Dessi Koleva (Torrance, Calif.) hit .375 with 12 kills to go along with seven digs and an ace, and sophomore
Sydney Biniak (Elkridge, Md.) added 11 kills to the cause. Reigning CAA Rookie of the Week
Heather Pippus (Lake Oswego, Ore.) had eight kills, seven digs, and an ace while hitting .300.
Senior
Carolyn Albright (Raleigh, N.C.) put herself on the doorstep of history with four blocks on the night, two of them solo efforts. She is now just three blocks from joining the elite 400-block club, a mark only three other players have ever matched. Sophomore
Sara Zumbach (Franklin, Tenn.) returned to the line-up tonight with a match-high 12 digs, and also had three assists. Speaking of assists, junior
Gabrielle Pe (Virginia Beach, Va.) had 15 to go with three digs and an ace, and sophomore
Austyn Ames (Wichita, Kan.) had another 15 helpers with her four digs.
The Tribe's road-trip continues on Saturday night, with the W&M heading to Towson for a 5 p.m. match-up.
