The William and Mary volleyball team fell to host George Mason in its final match this weekend on Saturday afternoon, 3-1. The Tribe is now 4-3 on the year, while the Patriots improved to 1-4 overall.

Dessi Koleva (Torrance, Calif.), who hit 16 kills to go with a team-best 16 digs and two blocks. Redshirt-sophomore
Michelle Heath (Rustburg, Va.) also earned a double-double, with 17 kills and 10 digs along with an ace. Freshman
Austyn Ames (Wichita, Kan.) had a third double-double with 22 assists and 16 digs, and also picked up two opportunistic kills.

Gabrielle Pe (Virginia Beach, Va.) had 11 digs to go with three assists and an ace. Classmate
Stephanie Paul (North Bethesda, Md.) had 21 assists and eight digs, and freshman
Sydney Biniak (Elkridge, Md.) had seven kills. Rounding out the notables was junior
Mallory Brickerd (Ashburn, Va.), who finished her weekend with six kills.
After a hard-fought first set went to GMU 2520, the Tribe came back in the second and was down three points late, 20-17. Biniak scored a kill to kick off an 8-1 run which also saw two kills from Koleva who had six in the set. W&M put the exclamation point on the 25-21 win by scoring six in a row to close the set, topped off by a block from Koleva and classmate
Carolyn Albright (Raleigh, N.C.). The third set was a GMU 25-23, despite a seven-kill effort from Heath and five more from Koleva. The fourth set also went to the Patriots, 25-14.
William and Mary has the week off, before traveling to South Carolina for the Clemson Classic next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13. The Tribe will face the host Tigers at 7 p.m. on Friday, and take on Tennessee State (10 a.m.) and Wofford (4:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
