The William and Mary women's golf team entered the final day at Bucknell in the lead, and pulled away even further in the third round to win the tournament at 912 (+72).  The Tribe defeated 16 other teams in the event, and had a 10-stroke lead over runners-up Seton Hall and Columbia.  Michelle Piyapattra of Columbia and Victoria Nguyen of Siena each finished the tournament at 222 (+12), with Piyapattra being declared medalist with a better third-round score.

The win was the 28th tournament title in school history, and the first for the Tribe since 2009-10 when W&M won both the Bucknell Invitational and the C&F Bank Intercollegiate.  Leading the way this weekend for the Green and Gold, sophomore Tina Chang (Mineola, N.Y.) and junior Kellie Edelblut (New Hope, Pa.) both tied for fifth place overall at 229 (+19).  Edelblut improved five strokes overnight to shoot 73 (+3), while Chang followed up her 73 from last night with a 77 on Sunday.  Freshman Kelly Moran (Boulder, Colo.) tied for eighth overall at 231 (+21), and classmate Kelly McGovern (The Woodlands, Texas) shot an outstanding 70 (E) in the final round to improve more than 20 places to a tie for 12th at 232.  McGovern's even-par showing was the lowest round of the tournament for any of the 90 players in the event.  Junior Anna McMullen (Monroe, La.) rounded out the team in 15th place at 234 (+24).

William and Mary is back in action next week, hosting the W&M Invitational at Kingsmill.  The 54-hole event will be played on the Plantation Course, with one round each day Sunday-Tuesday, Sept. 15-17.
