The William and Mary women's golf team enjoyed a remarkable opening day of the 2013-14 season Saturday, and leads the 17-team Bucknell Invitational by three strokes heading into the final round.  The Tribe shot 310-302 on the day to enter the clubhouse at +52, three strokes ahead of Columbia and 12 strokes ahead of third-place Seton Hall.  Erin McClure of Seton Hall and Victoria Nguyen of Siena are tied for the individual lead at 148 (+8).

For the Tribe, freshman Kelly Moran (Boulder, Colo.) won the steady-play award of the day and is tied for fourth overall at 150 (76-74, +10), just two strokes off the lead.  Sophomore Tina Chang (Mineola, N.Y.) had the best single hole of the day, hitting her first collegiate hole-in-one on the 142-yard No. 16 in the afternoon round.  Chang's ace was just the third in school history, and lifts her into the company of Terri Carneal '87 (1985 Seahawk Invitational) and Kristen Hamel '12 (2012 C&F Bank Intercollegiate).  The immediate 2-under score on that hole helped Chang to a 73 in the second round, and a tie for sixth overall at 152 (+12).

Junior Anna McMullen (Monroe, La.) paired rounds of 77 in the day's two rounds, and is eighth overall at 154, two strokes ahead of classmate Kellie Edelblut (New Hope, Pa.).  Edelblut turned in cards at 7-78, and is tied for 11th overall.  Freshman Kelly McGovern (The Woodlands, Texas) improved four strokes between rounds to shoot 79 in the afternoon, and improved to a tie for 36th heading into the clubhouse.

The Bucknell Invitational concludes with one round on Sunday, starting at 8:30 a.m.
