HARRISONBURG, Va. - The William and Mary Women's soccer program had six players honored with All-CAA awards at the league's annual banquet on Thursday night.
Leading the way were junior Emory Camper and sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Casey, who garnered first team honors. Junior Emily Fredrikson picked up a second team citation, while senior Dani Rutter and junior Taylor Dyson were named to the third team. Following a standout freshman season, Clara Logsdon earned all-rookie honors. Additionally, Rutter was named to the all-academic team.
Camper enjoyed the best season of her collegiate career in 2013. The Virginia Beach, Va. native tallied a team-high 10 goals (third in the CAA), an assist, and 21 points. Camper finished the season with two game-winning goals and two multi-goal games.
In goal, Casey built off of a strong freshmen campaign and had a stellar sophomore year. She posted CAA-bests in goals-against-average (0.86), save percentage (.828), and shutouts (6). For her two-year career, the Chesapeake, Va. native has posted 13 shutouts.
Fredrikson, who played every minute for the Tribe in 2013, helped anchor the Tribe backline to a league-best six shutouts. Throughout her career, Fredrikson has been a stout defender that has been named to all-conference honors in the previous two seasons. The Fairfax, Va. native added an assist against the College of Charleston from her backline spot.
Rutter, who is one of the Tribe's best scoring threats, finished the season with four goals, seven assists, and 15 points. Her seven assists, which rank second in the CAA, pushed her to 21 assists all-time, which ranks eighth in school history. In addition to her success on the field, the York, Pa. native had strong semester in the classroom, and for her efforts was named to the all-academic team.
Dyson, who started every match for the Tribe at midfield, is a valuable piece to the Tribe's lineup. A defensive midfielder, she posses one of the team's work rates, and is an integral part of the Green and Gold's transition from defense to offense. The Virginia Beach, Va. native excels at winning the ball in the midfield and distributing passes in the College's transition game.
Following a standout freshman season, Logsdon garnered an all-rookie selection. She appeared in all but one match, and made five starts for the Green and Gold. The Clifton Va. native, who is a defender by position, scored her first-career goal against Hofstra on Oct. 25. She also played a key role in W&M's CAA-best six shutouts.
William and Mary, which secured its NCAA record 33rd-straight winning season, finished the regular season with an 8-2-6 record. The Tribe clinched a bye into the CAA Semifinals by earning the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
The Tribe opens CAA Tournament play in the semifinals against Northeastern on Friday, Nov. 8. The match, which will be played at University Park in Harrisonburg, Va., kicks off at 3 p.m.
