WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William and Mary women's soccer team netted three unanswered goals en route to defeating CAA foe UNCW, 3-1, on Thursday night from Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.  Senior Cortlyn Bristol led the way, tallying a career-high three assists, while junior Dani Rutter tied a career-best with two goals.  The win improves the College's record to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in CAA action, while UNCW falls to 7-6-1 on the year and 2-3 in league play.

The Seahawks struck first when junior Natalie Winslow punched home senior Kim Currie's corner kick in the seventh minute.  The Tribe responded in a big way when senior captain Mallory Schaffer blasted home the equalizer in the 23rd minute.  The reining CAA Player of the Year received a pass from Bristol along the left side and proceeded to connect on her team-high ninth score of the season from 15-yards out.

In the second-half, the Tribe's offensive firepower proved to be too much for the visiting Seahawks.  Rutter opened the onslaught in the 46th minute, drilling home a shot from the six off a double assist from Bristol and junior Audrey Barry, who sent the initial lob into the box in which Bristol sent the touch to Rutter.  In the 70th minute, Rutter put the match out of reach, as she headed in a piercing and bending corner kick off of Bristol's left foot.  The goal was Rutter's second of the night and fourth of the year, while the helper was Bristol's third of the match and ninth on the season.

For the match, the Green and Gold outshot the Seahawks, 20-11 and held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-4.  Freshman keeper Caroline Casey recorded four saves in all 90 minutes of action between the posts for W&M.

Senior Mallory Schaffer's equalizer in the 23rd minute was the Allison Park, Pa., natives 40th career goal, which moves her into a tie for sixth all-time with Whitney Cali ('97) in the Tribe record books.  Senior Cortlyn Bristol's three assists pushed her career total to 24, which places the Chantilly, Va., native into sixth all-time in the W&M annals.  In the series against UNCW, Thursday night's win improved W&M's record against the Seahawks to 20-0.
