Sophomore wide receiver Ryan Moody totaled a career-high eight receptions for 122 yards with a touchdown, while Payton Award candidate running back Jonathan Grimes rushed for a team-high 70 yards.

W&M capped off the contest's opening drive with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Callahan to junior tight end Alex Gottlieb. The nine-play, 51-yard drive began after a 41-yard kickoff return by junior wide receiver Ryan Woolfolk and was keyed by Grimes, who carried the ball six times for 30 yards. Callahan was efficient leading W&M into the end zone, as he completed all three of his pass attempts.

The Tribe extended its lead to 10-0 with a 22-yard field goal by Drake Kuhn with 4:26 remaining in the second quarter. The 12-play, 74-yard drive lasted 7:21 and was efficiently engineered by Callahan, who was 4-of-4 for 60 yards.

James Madison answered with a touchdown on its following drive when Scott found the end zone on a 16-yard run. The seven-play drive covered 67 yards.

After forcing a three-and-out on W&M's next possession, the Dukes took their first lead of the game, 14-10, when Josh Roach blocked David Miller's punt and D.J. Bryant returned it 2 yards for a touchdown with just 0:24 remaining in the half.

Although JMU led at halftime, the Tribe outgained the Dukes, 151-128, in the opening 30 minutes.

The Dukes opened the second half with a 14-play, 71-yard drive that lasted 8:25 and culminated with a 3-yard touchdown run by Scott.

The Tribe answered with a scoring drive of its own, as Kuhn kicked a 31-yard field goal with 2:47 left in the third quarter to cut the margin to 21-13.

After B.W. Webb recovered the ensuing onsides kick attempt, the Tribe found the end zone moments later on a 17-yard pass from Callahan to Moody over the middle. Callahan then connected with D.J. Mangas on the two-point conversion to even the score at 21-21. Callahan completed 4-of-5 passes on the drive, totaling 41 yards.

JMU retook the lead on its next drive, however, when Scott scored on a 30-yard touchdown run with 12:09 remaining.

W&M drew within four, 28-24, on a 20-yard field goal by Kuhn with 7:08 remaining. It was his third successful field goal attempt of the afternoon.

After forcing JMU to a three-and-out on its following possession, the Tribe took over inside its own 1-yard line with 4:40 remaining but was unable to get a first down. Miller then took a safety on the fourth down, which put JMU ahead, 30-24, with 3:26 left to play.

W&M then held JMU to a three-and-out on its next possession, which was highlighted by a 3-yard TFL by Thompson on a third-and-five at the Dukes' own 39.

After taking over at its own 36-yard line with 2:33 remaining, the Tribe drove to the Dukes' 35-yard line before an 8-yard sack by Peter Rose with 1:42 showing forced a third-and-18. Following a W&M timeout, Callahan completed an 8-yard pass to Mangas, but his fourth-down pass to Moody on the left sideline was incomplete.

The Tribe will close out its regular-season slate next Saturday when it hosts No. 21/23 Richmond for Senior Day.
