Adrian Tracy Selected as a College Sporting News National All-Star

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The honors continue to roll in for All-American senior defensive end Adrian Tracy following his impressive performance in the victory against then-No.7/8 New Hampshire on Saturday, as he has been selected as a College Sporting News National All-Star. In addition to earning the national defensive player of the week award, Tracy was also chosen as the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week.

Tracy led a dominant defensive effort by the Tribe against UNH, as he recorded a team-high seven tackles to go with a pair of sacks and three tackles for a loss. The Buchanan Award candidate was instrumental in helping the College limit UNH to just 226 yards of total offense and just 27 rushing yards. The total yardage was 147 yards off New Hampshire’s season average, while the rushing yardage was 141 off its average entering the contest.

With 10 sacks this season, Tracy is closing in on the single-season school record of 12 established by Luke Cullinane in 1996. Additionally, the Sterling, Va., native ranks among the nation’s top 10 in sacks and tackles for a loss.

W&M boasts one of the nation’s top defensive units, as it ranks fourth in the country by allowing just 236.3 yards per game. Additionally, the College leads the nation in rushing defense (59.2), while it is sixth in scoring defense (13.9), fifth in sacks per game (3.4) and fifth in TFLs per game (8.3).

The College will have a chance to earn at least a share of the league title when it plays at No. 4 Richmond this Saturday at noon. The No. 4/5 Tribe currently owns a 9-1 record, its best mark through 10 games since 1947, and has won its last five contests.
