Brittany Sevachko Leads the W&M Women's Cross Country Team at the Tribe Open

WILLIAMSBURG - William and Mary sophomore Brittany Sevachko (Centreville, Va.) led the Tribe women's cross country team Saturday morning at the Tribe Open with her ninth place finish. Former VCU great Maria-Elena Calle won the individuals-only race in 20:36.24.

Sevachko led the team for the second time this season, finishing ninth overall in 23:04.34. Kelsey Budd (Oakton, Va.) was right behind her in 10th with a time of 23:05.27, and Kristen Dietz (Springfield, Va.) crossed the finish line in 23:28.68 for 13th place. Sophomore Avery Mattingly (Blacksburg, Va.) finished 16th in 23:34.68, just ahead of classmate Amelia Emerson (Nokesville, Va.), 18th in 23:51.96. Robin Vanneman (Stafford, Va.) rounded out the Tribe effort in 32nd place.

The College has two weeks off to prepare for the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, hosted this year by James Madison at the Newmarket Battlefield State Park on Saturday, October 31. W&M has won 16 CAA titles since the championship began in 1984, including the last six consecutive crowns.
