Regular Season Closes With Eight Championship Qualifications for W&M Women's Track and Field
Three All-Time Top-10 Marks Set at Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The William and Mary women's track and field team closed the regular season yesterday on the track at Christopher Newport, collecting eight championship qualifications and setting three all-time top-10 performances.

400m and 800m
Junior Ariel Burbey (Blacksburg, Va.) competed in the 400m dash for the first time in college, winning the event in 58.05 seconds to rank eighth all-time at the College. Later, Burbey also picked up victory in the 800m run with a time of 2:28.12.
1,500m
Junior Meghan Burns (Coopersburg, Pa.) led a Tribe sweep of the top four spots in the 1,500m, winning with an ECAC-qualifying time of 4:32.04. Senior Lynn Morelli (Philadelphia, Pa.) was second in 4:44.75, and sophomores Meredith Tighe (Oak Hill, Va.) and Kelsey Budd (Oakton, Va.) finished third and fourth, respectively.
400m Hurdles
Junior Dana Harvey (Mechanicsville, Va.) kept the victories going as she closed her season with a win in the 400m hurdles, running 1:05.50.
Pole Vault
Junior Nicole Kazuba (Chantilly, Va.) again was jumping near her personal-best, winning the pole vault with a stadium-record 12-11.5 (3.95 meters) to qualify for the ECAC Championships and NCAA Regional. Sophomore Emily Jeremiah (Mechanicsville, Va.) was second with a vault of 11-11.75 (3.65m), also qualifying for the ECAC meet. Junior Jennifer Garrott (Burke, Va.) was fourth, clearing the bar at 10-11.75 (3.35m)
Triple Jump
Freshman Lynnie Bresnahan (Orange, Va.) finished her season with a career-best leap in the triple jump, finishing second at 36-2 (11.02m). The effort ties Bresnahan with Holly Parker (36-2 in 1987) for eighth all-time at W&M.
Shot Put
Juniors Carly Morse (Sumerduck, Va.), second with a put of 44-0.75 (13.43m), and Ashley Williams (Williamsburg, Va.), fourth at 43-7.25 (13.29m), tuned up for the ECAC Championships in the shot put. Both women had previously qualified to the meet, Morse through her All-East performance indoors and Williams after winning the CAA title to claim the conference's automatic bid.
Discus
Freshman Natalie Baird (Sterling, Va.) won the discus with a throw of 149-9 (45.64m) to reaffirm her qualifications to the ECAC and U.S. Junior Championships.
Hammer Throw
Williams and Baird made their second appearances of the day with a 1-2 finish in the hammer throw. Williams won the event with a career-best throw of 166-3 (50.67m) that ranks second all-time at the College, and improves her qualifying mark to the ECAC Championships. Baird finished second, throwing 151-1 (46.06m).
With the regular season finished, William and Mary has a week to prepare for the ECAC Championships at Princeton, May 15-17.
