Eight Earn All-East Honors at ECAC Championships

Boston, Mass. - The William and Mary Tribe women’s track and field team had an unbelievably successful final day at the 32nd ECAC Indoor Championships on Sunday in Boston, Massachusetts. The Tribe finished in 11th place out of the 51 teams competing with 24.50 points, while Duke won the championships with a score of 56 points, 16 better than second-place Boston College.

Second Day Results

Earning All-East accolades for the Tribe were junior Nicole Kazuba and sophomore Emily Jeremiah in the pole vault. Kazuba finished second on a judge’s decision after clearing a height of 13-1.50, a new indoor-school record that ties her personal-best mark. Jeremiah finished in a tie for sixth with her vault of 12-5.50, a personal-best that ranks her third all-time at the College. For Kazuba, it is her third All-East honor, while Jeremiah earned her second such distinction.

Once again, sophomore Katie Guevel was fantastic, setting the indoor school-record for the second straight day. The Burlington, Kansas native crossed the line in fourth-place with a time of 8.65. The sophomore earned the third All-East honor of her career with the performance.

In the 500-meter dash, senior Ashley Madonick set a personal-best when she crossed the line in a fifth-place time of 1:13.54. With her performance, Madonick now ranks second all-time at the College and earns her first All-East honor.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Meghan Burns, Emily Schroeder, Glennis Lofland, and Kelly McElroy all earned All-East honors for their eighth place finish in the final on Sunday afternoon. The team crossed the line in a time of 9:04.30, almost three seconds faster than it’s qualifying time.

In the 3,000-meter run, junior Lynn Morelli placed 12th in a time of 9:48.04, while classmate Kayley Byrne was not far behind in 14th, timing in at 9:48.55.

Rounding out the Tribe’s effort at the championship meet was junior Ashley Williams, who finished in 16th place in the weight throw with her toss of 49-3.00.
