Tribe Participates in Hampton Invitational

Two More Qualify for Championship Meet

Hampton, Va. - The William and Mary Tribe track and field teams traveled to Hampton, Virginia on Saturday to participate in the Hampton Invitational.

Junior Nicole Kazuba qualified for the ECACs for the third-straight meet in the pole vault, winning the event with her clearance of 12-3.5. Joining Kazuba in qualifying for the ECACs was sophomore Emily Jeremiah, who was runner-up to Kazuba in the event with her height of 11-9.75.

The Green and Gold had three athletes finish in the top-10 of the shot put, led by junior Carly Morse who came in fourth with her distance of 42-11. Freshman Natalie Baird came in sixth (41-6.5), while junior Ashley Williams finished in 10th (40-7).

Other performances of note for the Tribe women were turned in by freshman Amelia Emerson, who finished in fourth in the mile run with her time of 5:26.20, and the 4x800m relay team, who came in second with a time of 9:26.30.

The William and Mary Tribe men’s track and field team was led by senior Cameron Shriver and junior Doug Zimmer.

Shriver, an Oxford, Ohio native, finished in fourth-place in the high jump with his height of 6-8. Zimmer was impressive in the pole vault, taking second place with his mark of 13-11.25.

Next up for the William and Mary Tribe track and Field team will be the Christopher Newport University Invitational. The meet will begin on Friday, January 30 and finish the following day, January 31.
